Getting Started With Plants

Taking care of plants can be daunting, but one plant that makes sure you will succeed is the Zanzibar Gem, or the ZZ plant.

Why Choose the ZZ Plant?

The ZZ plant is a beautiful green plant that looks absolutely stunning in any home.  This plant is great for new plant parents.  This plant requires low sunlight, so it does great in homes with little to no windows, and only needs watered once a month.  This plant thrives off of neglect, and loves it when plant parents forget about it.  It is a slow growing plant, but over time it will reward it's plant parents with light green leaves as it produces more stems.  This plant adds life to any room, and makes plant parenthood seem like a piece of cake.

The Only Issue...

One concern some people have with this plant is the toxicity levels of the plant.  While the ZZ plant holds up to wonderful standards of easy care, the plant does pack quite the punch if consumed.  This punch is mostly limited to an irritation or burning of the mouth.  This can raise concern among parents of young children and parents of curious pets.  But, the ZZ plant is quite the teacher, as it does not seriously injure anyone, rather give a slap on the wrists, discouraging further curiosity towards how other plants might taste.
